With no talks in sight, first two weeks of NHL season canceled

That means no NHL games from Oct. 11 to 24, including three Wild home games. The league says it is waiting for a union counteroffer.

Yes Donald, it makes total sense to lift the lockout. It would clearly be a huge concession by the players to play under a better deal than they could possibly get through negotiation. And I'm sure it would really help the urgency of discussion the players union feels, already more interested in ping pong than hockey.

I wish every NHL fan would muster up the courage to stop buying anything NHL related for the rest of the year (even if the lockout ends early) to show our displeasure with how this whole mess has gone down.

wildfan47: I agree. The approach myself and some fans I know are taking is to abstain from all spending that doesn't directly relate the enjoying the game. We enjoy it too much to stop tickets (STH and non) which would be the most effective way. But concessions, apparel, associated merchandise, etc? There's lots of places that money can go that treat customers better.

50% for the owners, 50% for the players, why is that so hard. Lets play hockey.

@brice068, Mister Parise spoke of Mister Bettman about how he talks about how much the league is making money and now when it comes to new contract talks they are losing money. Mister Bettman has to speak out of both sides of his mouth in his position, if you watched the debate last night you kind of see its unavoidable. 50-50 would be fair at this stage of the standoff, at this juncture you have to side with the owners as it looks like the players and Mister Fehr, with an emphasis on Mister Fehr is tripping

Glad I'm not a fan, and I feel for all the real fans out there. Professional hockey lost me as a fan when the North Stars left town. And losing a whole season in the name of greed? Only to have learned nothing from that debacle? And the fans are the ones that suffer. The players are rich, thanks to the fans, and can just kick back, or go somewhere else and make tons of money. I have no sympathy at all for the owners or the players, as the fans are the real losers here. Bring on the NBA!

Minnesota is the state of basketball. Not hockey anymore. Go Timberwolves.

Let me save pacmannick a few keystrokes. Norm Green should own the Wild and move them to Texas.

Keep cancelling the games and keep refunding my money. I won't be signing up for season tickets next year - no way - no how. I don't care how good the team might be. I'll find something else to do with my money. I hope all the other season ticket holders do the same and send a message. Go Gophers!!!

Basketball is for thugs and sub par athletes that can't play hockey - period. That said, I am disgusted with the NHL at this point and have lost interest. It's sad that the ugly business side of pro sports has to always somehow get shoved in the fan's faces.
