It is a little late for a non-partisan AARP. Before and after the election of Mr. Obama, the AARP was sponsoring support for the Democratic platform concerning Obamacare and the social security policies. I dropped my membership with them for these reasons but before I did the person at the AARP said they had many calls protesting their support for the liberal policies. TOO LATE.
AARP does support Obama's Obamacare. They will make millions of dollars from it. Why can't Dems tell the truth? Hummmm.....
AARP is nothing more than the marketing arm of insurance companies.
I like the idea of AARP being "Non-Partisan". I think that AARP needs to come up with some other "Mission" besides sending me an endless stream of Insurance information. One suggestion: Come up with a "Non-Partisan" plan for "Fixing" both Social Security and Medicare. A plan that would WORK "No Matter" who wins the Presidential Election in November 2012. That would be a great, REAL, example of AARP being a "Non-Partisan" organization.
AARP is an organization with around 30 million subscribers. They are losing lots of subscribers because they sold out the interest of seniors for a seat at the table of power called Obamacare. Billions of dollars, less quality, higher cost.
"AARP say its non-partisan" Baloney! Their partisanship is why my husband and myself have never joined.
AARP shouldn't endorse either candidate. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are going to be slashed no matter which candidate wins. The sellout of the elderly demographic will be swift and vicious. It's likely to happen in the lame duck session, right after the election but before the end of the year. The New York Times had an article yesterday on how the White House is lining up bipartisan leadership in Congress to do the deed, starting in mid-November.
It is a little late to caim that. They came out to support Bush's Medicare Part D. That is a big part of our Deficit, very costly because Bush allowed freedom of the Pharmaceuticals to charge as much as they want. The program was very poorly implemented. I dropped my subscription then and so did MANY others. It was a BIG complaint against AARP.
AARP is the text book definition of "nonpartisan". They actively supported the IRS takeover of health care through the Affordable Care Tax Act; they oppose any reforms to Social Security & Medicare even though the reforms don't affect their members. They support higher taxes and more government spending, and the President calls them a friend and supporter. Yes; it is a nonpartisan group all right.
