Obama vowed to kill the coal industry. Mission accomplished. Be prepared for higher energy prices. We deserve what we voted for. What was I thinking?

The rate hike does mean cleaner air though!

"The rate hike does mean cleaner air though!" I'm sure there will be plenty of people breathing that clean air in dark homes when their electric rates skyrocket and they can longer pay their bills.

There's that middle class tax cut that obama has been championing!...Oops, guess not. Just another way that obama sticks it to the middle class and the poor. Thanks, Libs!

Knock Knock....who's there? The 1890's - we want our coal-fired plants back....FYI - the utility rates in Fergus Falls are dirt cheap, due to the monopoly Ottertail has in the area (I grew up there). In the twin cities, the rates are already sky-high, so what's a few more bucks? We're going to have to step into the new century at some point, folks. Or maybe we should just start using asbestos as insulation again? It's cheaper and we can make it here in the good 'ol USA. So what if it causes health issues and depletes the earth.

Replacing base load coal will require either combined cycle NG plants or nuclear. Avoid wind and solar pipe dreams. Those sources are too variable, low density, and costly to be a significant factor.

Obama kills off the coal industry and energy costs go up. Obama gets his Obamacare passed and come 2014 the largest tax in history takes effect (yes, folks, SCOTUS says it's constitutional because it's a TAX) and who do you think it's gonna hit the hardest? Of course the poor and middle classes. A vote for Obama is a vote to raise your taxes no matter what economic level you are. Some are just a little more indirect but they are still a drain on the American bill-paying public!

obamaremorse Oct. 3, 12 4:58 PM * "Obama vowed to kill the coal industry. Mission accomplished." ***** This issue was decided by the courts in 2008 when it REQUIRED the EPA to issue clean air standards for coal plants. I know, I know, your eggs were cold and runny this morning and it's Obama's fault! Get over it!

" In the twin cities, the rates are already sky-high, so what's a few more bucks?"____That statement really says everything you need to know about liberalism. Nickel and diming America to death one regulation at a time with no thought whatsoever about taking whatever they want out of your wallet. You put all of those nickels and dimes together and eventually you have oppressive tax burdens that stifle growth and innovation. If these green energy schemes are such a good idea then why do they have to force us to pay their costs?
