Wow - Not too surprising you leave the best one - when Mondale tried to bring age into the debate against Reagan in 84. And Reagan turned it onto Mondale bringing up his "youth and inexperience" - Election over at that point.

The one I remember is the vice president debate where Dan Quayle tried to compare himself to JFK. His opponent said, "I knew John Kennedy, John Kennedy was a friend of mine, you're no John Kennedy." end of debate.

I agree with the author. When it's over, both sides and their corresponding networks will vigorously declare victory.

Two posters brought up Dan Quayle and George W. Bush for gaffes, but failed to mention they both won on election day. Debates are a waste of time. Just an opinion.
