This must vary regionally. I know 4 women who had babies in the last week alone.
And I know many who have put off their second child till it's too late because of costs. I'm guessing it varies socio-economically.
This does not surprise me. Having money makes raisng a family much easier. I know our economic situation has persuaded us from not having more kids.
I love when people use anecdotes and their personal experience as a reason to discard factual, statistical information.
I have 1 child and while I would love to have more children, I know that we do not make enough money to support additional children.
I certainly hope it has.
@bracystake It's called the availability heuristic.
No mention in the article or comments of the word abortion. Very odd.
the economy only stops those that have to pay for their children (close, food, college) from having more kids. Those that let other pay, are having many. I will be paying for college costs on my 2 kids for the next 25 years.
Could not agree more with this theory. We have two, wouldn't mind three, but don't think we will if things don't improve with the economy. Also agree with the poster who said those who don't have to pay for their children's expenses (i.e. live off the government) ARE having kids.
