Yeah that Spielman is an idiot for drafting a kicker isn't he? (sarcasm alert)

Priefer says it's who the player is not the fact that he's a rookie. So you're telling me Priefer that if you draft good players the player will be good? Wow, very profound.

Since forever NFL coaches have hated to trust rookies in key positions in key situations. For example, George Allen rarely, if ever, started a rookie. All Priefer is saying is that's changing. Probalby because college coaches are preparing players better and the pre-draft vetting of players is getting better to find the right guy with the right personality and attitude.

Success as a kicker is not what defines you - how you handle failure is what defines you. Walsh missed his firt FG this past game and it was his last attempt. If he is a good kicker, it will not enter into his mind at all. We did see how a kicker can easily try to over-correct in the Washington game, but even he (Cundiff) pulled it out at the end...barely.

This is somewhat a ridiculous article. Since pro teams only carry one kicker, every kicker starts out as a rookie somewhere.

I was kind of glad he missed a kick on Sunday, especially since it wasn't a game winner or anything crazy. It would have given us a 3 score lead, which is always huge but the kid had to miss one sooner or later, and I'm glad it came when it did and not when it was clutch. Now he can just go out and know that he's human, but the first miss is out of the way. If, and it's a big if...we make the playoffs, I didn't want him going into those games perfect. See Gary Anderson.

I don't know if I've ever thought of a kicker as 'badass', but Walsh certainly fits that description so far! What a weapon! 19 touch backs and basically gives us a chance to score whenever we cross their 45 yd line! Really digging the kid!
