Huh? I thought the bridge calling was Carol Molnau's fault, or at a minimum Pawlenty's or Bush's fault (by default, everything bad that happens was somehow caused by G.W. Bush to our liberal nut jobs in this state). Now I come to learn the esteemed U of M engineers didn't think it should be replaced, either. I guess everything that Steve Murphy says isn't true. Go figure.

Interesting that people lost their lives and some use it as a platform to name call and try to justify their political agenda.

The 28% crew feels embattled, so it responds the only way it knows how - by getting louder. Poor things. Hey, 'chimps - it's your "no new taxes" mantra which makes for falling bridges. Government actually needs to do some things, and to do those things it needs money. I know - what an amazingly complicated concept to grasp. Now clap louder.

I don't name call! Why, yes - I did have a lobotomy in my youth.

IT WAS THE U OF M WHO GAVE THE BRIDGE A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. THE LIBERAL U OF M HUH? I'LL BE DAMNED. AND IF ANYONE POLITICIZED THIS TRAGEDY, IT WAS THE LIBERAL DFL TO THE TUNE OF RAISING THE GASOLINE TAX. YA YOU ARE A BUNCH OF LIBERAL NUT JOBS.

There are some potentially risky possibilities facing the University. Many Professors believe their PHD degree allows them to perform bridge analysis. However, only licensed engineers can provide these services. A professor using only their PHD credentials in performing these analyses is in violation of state statutes 326 which state only licensed engineers can provide these opinions and analysis. If the State relied on studies obtain from unlicensed professors both the state and the professors are in serious trouble. The public needs to wait for the legal system to take its course. We are likely to see legal disputes the last 10 years or more. Credibility is important and if something so simple as undersized gusset plates are responsible it will be nearly impossible to shield the state and all its employees, Pat in St. Paul

More than a few people should go to jail over this horrific event.
