I remember reading last year an article on Twins Daily that ranked the top 15 or so recruits from Japan. It was stated then that less than a handful was successful in the Majors. Going forward, I think the Twins need to set expectations with the Japanese leagues, that players drafted from there must prove themselves starting out in AAA. Make the contract incentive laden so that they only get signing bonuses if the player makes the majors.

norcaltwin - What you are saying can't happen. Remember how much the Twins had to pay 5.3 million "posting fee", just to get the right to negotiate with him. If they are entering into that sort of agreement, you'd best be sure it's a "sure thing".

Here is general rule for the Twins - Lets call it the "Nishi"rule. Never ever give a player 5 million dollars a year when they have not played a lick of major league ball before. Also, If this means trading down in the draft, by all means, trade down. We simply cannot afford to take these types of reckless gambles when we only have an average payroll to work with. We need more sure things. I think Terry Ryan is better than most GMs, but if Ryan didnt want Nishi, he certainly could have said something to Bill Smith. Bill Smith would have done whatever Ryan wanted. If these guys were in business instead of baseball, they would be unemployed.

Wonder what Jim Pohlad had to say to Gardenhire.I'm guessing he was complaining about too many baseballs going into the stands effecting his bottom line.He may only eat one lobster tonight instead of two......thanks for nothing Jimmy.....this team had NO starting pitching and everyone except Terry Ryan knew it going in.....Blackburn hadnt had a good start in a year , Pavano couldnt break my front window with his fastball and Liriano was a headcase....then throw in Jason flipping Marquis?????? ugh.

Baseball fans don't care what country you're from and are color blind. That's a fact. The fans just know a good player when they see one. Also, Guelph is in North Dakota.
