A Floydian slip as Gophers fall to Iowa for first loss of season

The Gophers came into Iowa with rare perfection but left looking disheveled -- oh, and without that little bronze pig.

An embarrassment...and a step backwards. Kill has not proven he can win in the Big Ten. At least we should not have a QB controversy when Gray gets back. Shortell is way way way too inconsistent and inaccurate as a passer. Again...a HUGE step backwards.

Finally the Gophers got to see how they measured up against another NCAA D-1 FBS team (a very average Big 10 Iowa too)!

I agree with dirtydogs. Max is a good relieve pitcher but not a starter. If Gray can't come back give the job to Nelson.

I see that, once again, the Gophers saved their best for the Big Ten games. Congratulations.

Welcome back to the real world, Gopher fans. And the same to Vike fans tomorrow.

Well, the bandwagon certainly has a very low loading floor, to see the speed at which people jumped off the bandwagon. What a miserable lot of fair-weather fans!

Boy, the Gophers just can't win away, can they? Good news is that the Vikings will win at Detroit tomorrow. By two touchdowns.

Unfortunately, this isn't Facebook, so there's no "like" button. Weisman looked impressive again in 2.5 games. Gophers withered under a motivated "D".

I was struck by how iowa's D flew to the ball and made tackles while I lost count of missed tackles by the gophers half way through the game. turnovers, sure, but you can't miss 2,3,4 tackles on a play and expect to win.

For my entire 51 years (including at least 45 as a Gopher fan) every year I'm full of optimism, like Charlie Brown thinking that, THIS time, this time, Lucy won't pull the ball back when he tries to kick it. As I lie on my back, staring at the sky again, nursing my latest wound, I vow NEVER to be that gullible again. Until next year, at least.
