The Gophers fell behind 24-0 but looked like a better team after halftime.

Sid - please tell the folks at Target field to take down that big ugly black batters eye! MN is the land of beautiful outdoors and that is the best they can do? KC has water falls, Detroit has green trees / shrubs, LA has rocks and we have an ugly blackboard!!! OMG

Sid, you are so predictable. I was talking to a buddy on the phone yesterday, after the Goofs egg laying spectacle in Iowa City. I told him that you would say in today's column that the boys in Maroon had a great second half, and if it wasn't for the fact that football, (and fractions, when you think about it...), requires a first half, to go with the second, Minnesota would have won that game. And you didn't let me down.

The discussion should be among new Twins coaches and management. In two years Kill has recruited Twin City suburban and southern midgets that don't rate as big 10 level competitors at reciever or running back. Shortell is the best QB and Gray is the best running back and the best reciever on this team, both recruited by Brewster. Kill plays Gray at QB the last two years. Kill did not have the team ready to play at the start. Playing easy opponents in preseason leads to more loses during the big 10 season for Kill and Smith, both coaches with very long term contracts.

After 50 years of consistent Minnesota Golden Goopher losing football, only Sid would try to find positives. With a 24 point lead, don't you think Iowa let up on the gas a little in the 2nd half, Sidney ? And the old 'banged up' excuse ? The realty is the Gophers simply continued their tradition of being this state's biggest embarrassment..........

So let me get this straight--we are supposed to be happy that the Gophers played good in the second half and only lost the game 31-13 to a rotten Iowa team?? Gopher football is a joke.

Actually, for once I would say Sid got the game summary just about right. No rah-rah, no "bump in the road", just an accurate description of a young Gophers team that has some better days ahead of them yet. They also have some more days like yesterday ahead of them yet, too.

I always thought that the Twins should have kept Dickey. I wonder what the Twins management is thinking now?

"The section currently features a number of obstructed seats that will be removed." We were told several thousand times that "there is not a bad seat in the house" --- you mean that wasn't true?

So Sid, how many carries did Weisman have in the second 1/2 when your beloved gophers shut him down for just 22 yards? HINT: he had ZERO carries in the 4th quarter!
