So? Being faithful is strictly a volunteer matter. You are also free to be as cynical as you want.
The Catholic church never seems to see giving as an option with me.
Meanwhile, I observed and listen to parochial school children hitting up their neighbors for a school playground. Perhaps the Bishop should reorder his fundraising priorties
So, let us not forget that ultimately, archbishop Nienstedt takes his marching orders from a foreign country; the sovereign state of the Vatican. Imagine how people would have reacted when J.F. Kennedy was running, and people were fearful of the president of the United States taking orders from the Vatican. The archbishop is trying to enshrine our constitution with his religious belief, based on orders from the Vatican. Think about that when you vote. Do you really want a foreign country dictating our secular constitution?
I wonder how much they spent on postage?
The Archdiocese has already wasted over $1 million on this political campaign to prevent a section of our fellow citizens from marrying the person they love. The Archbishop clearly doesn't need my money and neither will I be contributing to my parish's latest multi-million dollar fund raiser because of this. They can get the money from our high-roller cleric-politician over at the cathedral. He obviously can afford to throw it around.
@tuy1929: Free?? The whole purpose of the amendment is to limit the freedom of a particular segment of our society to make the most fundamental choice an adult can make: who they can marry and call their spouse.
....Nienstedt is asking the Gov't to codify bigotry and discrimination in statute....an appropriate use of ecclesiastical efforts..?????
The Catholics ought to be more like the labor unions and simply take their "pound of flesh" as a straight deduction from people's paychecks!
husker1983; Ever heard of Catholic Charities?
