Romney cannot move on immigration - or reaching out to Hispanics otherwise the Republican Base will revolt and freak out. Do you think that Romney actually believes 90% of the stuff he says? Of course not, while the guy flips flops the reality is that he is saying what he has to say to keep Republicans ready to vote.

Romney needs to take Obama's lead and reach out to illegal alien, felon and dead people voters.

From the article: "A sharpened Romney message, a serious Obama stumble, a decisive debate outcome..." If that's the game plan, Mr. Gerson, the tape is showing what Peggy Noonan characterized as a "rolling calamity." The sharpened message is coming from President Obama; the serious (calamitous, even) stumbles are coming from Mitt Romney; and if there's a decisive debate outcome on the announced topics (Economy, Health Care, Role of Government, and Governing), the smart money has to be on the candidate with the experience.

At the Univision forum last week, Romney sought to soften his edge on immigration policy, emphasizing his support for a temporary workers program and permanent status for those who serve in the military or earn advanced degrees.

Isn't this what the Republicans have denounced Obama as doing? Is Romney trying to copy Obama, but doing so under the Republican radar by using different names for this? Republicans, hypocrisy is thy name.

Romney's idea of reaching out to Hispanics is using a spray tan before speaking at an event of primarily Hispanic voters.

"Romney needs to take Obama's lead and reach out to illegal alien, felon and dead people voters."

Republicans already have that market cornered.

It is not just Hispanics but all minorities, and not just Romney but the entire focus of the Republican Party. My wife, who is Asian, has been until just recently very active in Republican politics on the local and state levels. At a meeting several years back, she pointed out that she was the only minority in a room that was all white, mostly male and at least 50 or older. She then pointed out that most Asians, on a personal level, have solid conservative and family-oriented values, yet year after year vote overwhelmingly Democrat. She closed the deal by pointing out that this is because Democrats actively court the Asian vote while Republicans for the most part ignore them, and got herself yet further disliked by suggesting that as long as such a parochial attitude exists among Minnesota Republicans they will never achieve real or lasting political power. She was right. This, on a national scale, is what we're seeing with Romney, and is one of the reasons why Romney and people who support him represent a faction of the Republican Party that is in effect on life support. The future of Republicanism in America is centered in the rising stars like Rubio, Jindal, Haley, etc. etc.--young, talented females and minorities. I know for a fact that it drives the old Republican guard nuts, but they're a fast-dying breed and in Owatonnabill's opinion, not nearly soon enough.
