Who woulda thought the Gophers would have a better rank than our NFL neighbor. I don't usually watch college football but this defense should replace what we have on the Vikings. All I can say is WOW!

Definite improvement each week for the gophs. More than anything else I am impressed that the defense is able to get off the field. I honestly can't remember how long it has been where I can say that

The strib censors removed my prior comment so I will truncate: belasco-offer a salient argument for your prediction...

Wow! Mason never had a defense, Brewster didnt, but these guys are gaining confidence every game. We never saw this improvement game to game with the previous two coaches. I was thinking a couple weeks ago that this team could win their first six or seven games if they keep on improving since the hogeyes suck and wisky aint to hot either. Probably dreaming but Northwestern may be better than both those teams. Wells is a player!!!!. Max missed too many throws in the second half but this team has potential. Kill is good for the program. He may not bring us a title but he can at least get us to the middle of t he pack. We are young and if the coaching is good we should continue to improve the rest of the year and beyond.

Relax folks, this was Syracuse, hardly a football powerhouse the last several years. It's great to see the Gophers win, but try to keep things in perspective.

Syracuse is no pushover. They put up 29 points against USC who was #1 at the time. They have one of the top passing offenses and put up 41 points against Northwestern (the other undefeated team in the Big 10 along with OSU). Syracuse shown have only scored 3 against the Gophers, except the refs gave Syracuse a generous mark on a 4th down to keep its drive alive with a minute to play. Love the aggressive and the speed of the defense. Must give this win to the defense as the offense struggled at times with Shortell missing a few easy throws, costly penalties and a terrible kicking game.

This program is learning how to win again. The trend is in an upward direction which is the opposite as the neighbors to the South and East can say! Love it.

It's a process. They will probably be mid-tier bowl eligible because the Big Ten is so weak, but mid-tier bowls id what we had under Mason, although I must admit I'm intrigued if Kill can bring them higher than the Sun Bowl

To modify a quote for the Gophers, "All they need is a small taste of success, and they will find it suits them." They are getting that small taste of success - now let's see if it carries over into the Big Ten season.
