Good for them. Let the alchohol haters post now. I do not drink myself and hate drunken drivers but a casino needs to offer the stuff. It goes with entertainment, ask the Gophers.

Advertising for bartenders already......when they still need to go through several Federal, State and Local gov't approvals. Makes you wonder what the cost of a government approval goes for now days? Do the Feds get a bigger payoff than the State or the Locals????

i love it. "if you open a state casino, we'll have to sell alcohol.... well, i guess we'll do it either way." get rid of this monopoly.

Yep, business must be hurting but it is the right move. I had stopped going because many of us called it the "no fun casino," especially as I had my luggage "explored" on several occasions-- simply looking for booze. It was beyond rude. It will be nice to be treated as an adult again. Good job Mystic!

boshk is right on the money. When there was a real possiblity of a state-run casino, or at least a racino, the tribe threatened to start selling alcohol at their own casino. Once that incursion into their revenue stream was averted, they decided to sell alcohol anyway. Very shady. They need some competition, and they were successful in handcuffing the racino idea for the next 10 years.

I've had my luggage "explored" too a couple times while staying at Mystic. The 2nd time was the last straw, haven't been back. Nice move allowing booze but too little too late. I kick it at TI now and I'm not about to go back to this lamer joint.

Minneapolis gave liquor licenses to Envy and a few other warehouse district trouble spots, why deny a soveriegn nation that has every incentive to keep trouble under control?

Mac***If it wasn't for Mystic Lake Canterbury would have went down, as far as the racino put the blame on your legislators for kowtowing to the Mystic lake tribe.

No reason for them to stay dry so this is no big deal. However, it's unlikely that this hasn't been under consideration for some time. The timing of it coming after the rejection of a state-owned casino, particularly when they used the threat of liquor as a defense against competition, is suspicious. Looking at this along with their "agreement" with Canterbury to kill Racino it's becoming evident that their business is in decline. If so, then that's good news. That would mean that reopening the compacts at some point in the future is not out of the question.

Note to beavis38,selling booze at Gopher games isn't about 'enjoyment' it's about the pathic support they are given, I guess the other Big 10 schools aren't having any 'enjoyment' For your info only 20 schools in the whole nation sell beer at games.Like so many Minnesota people you can't tell the difference between pro & college football! Wake up!
