Best Buy will still grab plenty of iPhone 5 sales but less so because of the growing clout of Apple's own stores and website.

"Still, if Apple stores didn't exist, "people would be buying them at a Best Buy store," Kennedy noted." Ms. Kennedy forget's that it was Best Buy and others like them that pushed Apple into the retail business. For years the retailers took the easy sell and stuffed their shelves with Windows products rather than take on the difficult task of educating the consumer to possibility of alternate devices. I remember when the iMac was introduced in multiple colors that Best Buy refused to add the inventory required to support such a project. When it became apparent that the iPad was going to be the next big thing, the CEO declared that they would be opening a large section of the store devoted to competing tablets and would become the guide to the consumer for alternatives. I knew they were attempting to create a world of higher margins for themselves and less control by Apple. I'm sure Apple knew it too. With friends like that, who needs... I wonder what would have happened had they gone all in on their support for Apple?

Its plain and simple why I don't shop at Best Buy if possible, its the buying experience.. Horrible. I was in the market for a new TV a few years ago and the sells guy tried selling us on paying $150 to have the TV set color settings "professionally" tuned.. REALLY? you want to adjust the color on my TV and charge me for it? everyone has a different perspective on what looks good for TV's colors.....I walked right out of Best Buy and went to Costco and bought a TV and didn't have anyone there trying to up sell me on services I didn't need. We recently went to apple and bought a MacBook Pro and I must say that was the best buying experience I ever have had, and in now way would I waste my time going to Best Buy to buy an Apple product.. I'm guessing they would push Geek Squad on you in some way.. Hopefully the new CEO Jolly Rodgers... who ever.. will realize that the buying experience at Best Buy is dreadful. I believe in supporting MN based company's, however the company philosophy on trying to find a way to suck every penny out of the consumers wallet when buying a product is scummy.
