"Drinking Buddy" is an oxymoron - drunks make poor decisions (driving, abuse, & friendships).
AS for Merging. People genuinely don't care about that as a rule because it's not enforced. People don't get tickets for not following road rules, etc.
How many people cross the THICK white lines around merging areas? Nearly everyone. People tend to not follow rules they find cumbersome or dumb. I am not disagreeing that some road rules are worthless but some maintain order.
I wish we went back to the Steel Medians so people wouldn't cut people off on exits, etc.
"please use your turn signal to "ask permission" to be let in!"...On that note please have the courtesy to let others in. I do my fair share but when its time for me to move over no one returns the favor...
Turn signals aren't there for "Asking permission", they are used to indicate to others what you are going to do. Also - Let others merge, and acknowledge when others let YOU merge.
ageepaper - contrary to popular belief, it is not illegal to cross the THICK white lines around merging areas - unless there is a sign posted saying so. Generally when lane changes are prohibited they are marked by a DOUBLE white line and there is a sign posted saying not to cross the double white line....
According to the MN Driver's Manual - Chapter 5:
A solid white line indicates that lane changes are discouraged in
areas where this type of marking is present.
Double solid white lines indicate that lane changes are prohibited
in areas where this type of marking is present.
