A burgeoning group of gifted tight ends, with soft hands as well as brute force, are causing fits for defenses around the NFL.

Like I have said before, perhaps Joe Webb could have been converted to a "Freak Athlete" RB/(catching) Tight End hybrid. It is probably too late to try that experiment though. He will probably finish out the season as a queen, then go too the highest bidder as an NFL backup QB...

Charley Sanders would have felt right at home in today's NFL offenses. He was a special. And before Charley, there was John Maki. Two giants that defined the position for today's tight ends.

Spielman, had visions of copying his hero, Belichick, when he signed, Carlson. It is to bad Spielman is such a poor evaluator of NFL talent. I still say bench Carlson and give Alan Reisner a chance to be our second tight end, after the preseason he had.

For a tight end to be productive, there has to be a wide receiver that can stretch the field...so far, the Vikings don't have one. They'll dink and dunk to the tight end and to Harvin, but only after having run the first two plays in a series with Peterson. Run, run, pass, punt....
