The media's lousy election track record

First, Rick Perry was the "it" candidate. Then Mitt Romney's doom was predicted many times over.

Well, then your story must be untrustworthy, since you're "the media", right? See, that's the problem. There is no such thing as "the media". There have been plenty of members of the media that have been saying over and over and over that Romney was the inevitable candidate. And it turned out he was. But at the same time, "the media" didn't pull out of thin air victories by Bachmann and Santorum or high polling by Perry. There were plenty of voices in the media also saying Perry was a lightweight who wouldn't be able to compete on a national stage. "The media" just reported on what was happening right now. What do you want them to do, insert into every story "while Santorum has just won the last three Republican primaries, we all know it doesn't matter and Romney will be the eventual nominee"? Wouldn't that smack of incredible unprofessionalism? And all those things about Romney HAVE seriously hurt his campaign. Romneycare HAS prevented him from making an effective argument against the mandate in the ACA. These have all been pieces in the puzzle of Romney's failing campaign.

Yawn. The same old 'blame the media' schtick.

Call out the media, you also call out the liberals that blindly follow it - and get replies from people like jep123. Excellent demonstration of how unabashedly biased the media has become. I'm proud of the nearly 50% of our country that sees through the media hype and realizes Romney is who we need right now. As for the other half... think about this commentary. Don't just dismiss it. Why aren't they pointing out Obama's many failures, mistakes, lies and deception?

Well, I thought I was decided. I was going to vote for Romney because I think Obama has done nothing for the economy. But now that Jennifer Rubin has listed all the reasons why Romney is not qualified, I think I'm buying into her argument. Thank you Rubin for helping me see the light about Romney's failures.

The funny thing about this article is that number 4-10 are very much holding out to be true. It's over, all that's left to do is count the votes. The Cadillac issue, the 47%, the bad convention, the empty chair, Clinton's speech, the misfire on the ambassador's murder, Ryan's lie-athon, all of it is adding up to a growing number of people who are certain that this man cannot be trusted behind the wheel. In 50 days Obama will be re-elected, and Republicans and their blind followers will look back at how often he put his silver foot in his mouth and wonder, what were we thinking to nominate this.... idiot? The campaign IS wrecked. It's over. It's ironic that Rubin wrote this article, and I hope it's reprinted on November 7.

But except for #2 (and Perry killed himself with his OOPS moment), every one of those came true. Each of those gaffes and policy mistakes has cost Romney support. Now he is losing badly, and it is getting worse. He is likely to lose in 6 weeks by double digits and take the Senate and House with him.

8% unemployment and the businessman challenger still trails in just about every poll. Is that what Rubin calls "success"?

Of course, Ms Rubin, the election has not happened yet, so we really don't know if the media was wrong about how these gaffes have killed or not killed the campaign. We will see in November....you should suspend judgment, as you are saying the rest of the media has not.

While all the points made regarding the Media in this article are true, when I originally read the headline I assumed it was apologizing for not covering Obama's miscues and failures with the same equal enthusiasm. But expecting the lap dog media to go that far and actually be the watch dog media was wishful thinking. I will continue to get me news elsewhere.

"Excellent demonstration of how unabashedly biased the media has become" ... are you including Fox?
