Off-the-cuff mistakes tell us something about the candidates.
Obama's point about the "bitter" people was that the Democratic Party had failed to get their message across to them and that he wanted to be president of all Americans including those most hostile to him because he believes that what they share matters more than what divides them. But Romney is saying the exact opposite. He's dismissing 47% of the population as "victims" who are only looking for government handouts and his job is not to worry about them.
We haven't heard much of substance from Mitt Romney during this campaign. No "hows" and "whys" about the very general comments he makes or specifics on his policies or strategy! We have heard A LOT of negative rhetoric from him. Now America knows why!! And we now know his stance on middle-class America and how out-of-touch he is! THAT is how he feels folks!!! It is sad that this individual is running for President, and the Republican party actually nominated him!
Quite frankly, Romney is factually correct on who is paying taxes and who is not. This country cannot continue to operate with ever increasing debts and fewer and fewer citizens paying the taxes. The "rich" are already paying the taxes. Why should they be forced to pay more? Of course those who don't pay want to vote for the guy who will give them more "free" stuff. Of course. The mainstream media loves to bait stories to get readers and advertising over stuff like this. How about recognizing the truth and facts?
stearns1985Sep. 19, 12 7:30 PM:"We haven't heard much of substance from Mitt Romney during this campaign."...but "Hope and Change" was substance??????? Really?
"garynuman"...if the "rich" would worry less about padding the company's bottom line and steer some of those dollars toward their employees there would be more people that would be paying taxes. The wage increase would result in more disposable income for their employees which would in turn increase the demand for their products which in turn would put more money in their pockets. What goes around comes around....
There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That, that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what."
Mitt, they are called Liberals!
Hmmm. Of course the Strib like most MSM seems unconcerned Romney's video was either edited or simply turned off right after the "big moment" for at least 1 or 2 minutes. And of course, drich knows exactly what Romney meant in this incomplete video record. Unbelievable. Well, we will see who is laughing on election day---> as I am not worried. How about Owebama's comment on Letterman that 3.5 years into his 6 Trillion debt orgy, federal debt isnt a short term worry.......does that bother any of our dear lib friends? Any of our media? Should the President attend Intel briefings? Is that more important than partial Romney videos? Speak now....
garynuman says the 47% pay NO TAXES. Not true! They may not contribute federal payroll taxes, but they pay all kinds of taxes that go to support the very services used by all people-rich, poor, Pepubs, Dems, Christians, Muslims, atheists, etc. Through sales taxes (state, county, and city), state income taxes, property taxes, fees/taxes(state,county,city), etc. I am one of the 47% who served my country and worked until age 66 years. I greatly resent people like Mitt, garynuman and their ilk seeing people like me as self pitying victims who are basically just a drag on the hard working/tax paying good citizens! I wonder how many of you righties (the good people) attended a college on my dime, drove on roads I helped pay for, enjoyed the freedom that we veterans fought to preserve!! Such arrogance is pathetic!!
"""garynuman says the 47% pay NO TAXES. Not true! They may not contribute federal payroll taxes,""".......
You know, I have read gary's post, and that quote isnt in there. And federal payroll taxes are different from federal income tax, right? Why do libs make up quotes, or misquote facts, and then decry "arrogance." Can somebody explain this?
Any outrage yet over the President's debt comment or skipping Intel briefings?
Its okay, Mitt says he will look after 100% of Americans. You can trust Mitt, he's shared everything with us even one year of tax returns.... So don't worry. Be happy and vote for Mitt. His name even starts with W. Safe bet. He will inflame the middle east, destroy America's safety net. And he will start a bonfire of opportunity for the .... well.. for himself and his family and friends; but don't worry, some of it will trickle down to you, if it doesn't evaporate in the heat of his success..... What does Mitt really believe?
Truth is he is in Wonderland, with Alice and the Mad Dirty Harry.
