As a sophomore a year ago, the QB filled in and struggled in a 58-0 loss to Michigan. This time, he feels more ready to lead.

The young man has shown the ability to play in the Big Ten. Its best for Gray to be completely healed rather than have it hamper him all season. I bet Kill is a lot less worried about Shortell's play than he's worried that he will go down forcing him to take a red shirt off one of his talented freshmen QB 's . That would be a shame. And which would he chose?

The article headline talks about Shortell's play as a sophomore last year against Michigan. On the other hand, he currently is a sophomore so...is he repeating his sophomore year or was the heading just a miss by the editor or whomever? Shortell has the skills to be a good Big Ten QB even though he may struggle given his lack of playing experience. Kill has been more than fair in giving Gray numerous chances to take the QB position and run with it but that has just highlighted his lack of the overall skills required to be successful at that position. Gray is a very good athlete who can run with the ball after a catch and Shortell is a QB who can consistently get the ball to the intended receivers including Gray. Gray is not a D-1 QB and never has been one as Brewster well knew and as Kill now knows as well.

One aspect that has improved this year is pass protection--it's a far cry from the Brewster's last year when the Gophers gave up the most sacks and had about the worst rushing attack. Gray was qb for a few series here and there, and wasn't allowed to pass. Good riddance to those overweight Bozos posing as linemen.

Max will be fine, the balls he threw in the 4th Q of the New Hamshire game and in the second Q of the W. Michigan game were spot on and thrown with confidence. The D needs to come through and show continued improvement. No idea how to call this thing, Syracuse put up a good battle for much of the USC game, played a decent game against a pretty good NW team, but trailed at the half to........Stoney Brook.

"There's a definite air of confidence now. He knows he can go out and beat anybody" - The guy loses 55-0 to a weak Michigan team and has an "air of confidence". Just think how confident he would be after a game against Alabama or LSU (i.e. anybody). #Brewsterhype
