Why does tailgating at our sporting events always have to be sponsored, controlled or provided by the city or team? Whatever happened to fans bringing their own stuff and having a great time?

jonno, couldn't agree with you more. Why can't they figure this out so they can open up the parking lots to do real tailgating? Have these people never been to anther pro sporting city? This is pathetic. I'll give them one star for making some sort of effort, but that's it.

Politicians trying to tell people how to have fun is the equivalent of parents arranging 'play dates' for their kids. I also wonder how much of this 'food truck tailgating' idea is related to the crybabying by D-Brian's, and that this is the city's attempt to give the food trucks a way to make money in the fall and winter in exchange for more restrictions in the summer.

"Whatever happened to fans bringing their own stuff and having a great time?".......So what you're saying is you DON'T want to support the local businesses?! I thought that it was the whole reason for building this monstrosity to begin with.

"The railgating idea is part of a broader vision by Rybak and city officials to provide fans with an alternative to more traditional tailgating, and generate more game-day traffic and activity in advance of the opening of a new downtown stadium in 2016." ---- NOPE. I'm calling BS on RT here. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. What RT and the New Jersey boy's football team are doing is setting up all the tailgating people to get used to paying FULL PRICE EVERYWHERE. As in get used to NO TAILGAITING in the future. RT is just leading the face painted people around like sheep. Skol to the purple painted sheep.

"Why does tailgating at our sporting events always have to be sponsored, controlled or provided by the city or team? "-----because the average fan isn't mature enough to be responsible while tailgaiting and the people and business that are in the area year-round, and not just for 5 hours 8 times a year, have to put up with the stupidity. No thanks.

Wonder how the train operators feel about this with so many drunks wandering around near the tracks and maybe even crossing in front of the trains.
