Talk about a life well lived. During my time living in Ireland Hall I had many "Lavinburgers" on Sunday nights and had the chance to talk with Father Lavin many of those nights. I remember that he was probably the only man alive who could get an entire dorm full of 18-19 year old guys to leave their video games and sit down and listen as he narrated a slide show of his last hiking or climbing trip. And we all did it just because we knew he wanted us to, he never had to ask. Pretty impressive man. He will be missed.

A great man; I often these days raise questions in my own mind about the current direction of the Catholic Church and some of the tawdry aspects of a small number of priests. T memories and the stories of Father Lavin can always bring me back to the vision I had in St. Thomas of the wonderful good people who also thrive in that environment especially those who had the privilege of knowing "Scooter."
