I have an idea. Stop shooting a cocktail of carcinogens into the earth. $600,000 please.
that's a fine frickin' frackin' fund! friended!
What? You mean to tell me that fracking isn't a safe, efficient (cough-millions of gallons of water) and effective means of extracting oil from the earth? Oh wait...it's perfectly acceptable until someone else proves the industry wrong. Their PR folks are paid _very_ well. And as of right now, the "carcinogenic cocktail" is composed of chemicals proprietary to Haliburton and have yet to be divulged. Luckily, it's just Western North Dakota...which in another ten years is going to be a toxic waste dump.
frankfurter: "Luckily, it's just Western North Dakota...which in another ten years is going to be a toxic waste dump." Except that western Wisconsin is next, along with the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin. All along Wisconsin 35 you can see signs that say "We Stand with Scott Walker" and "Save Our Bluffs - Frack off." Hmmmmm. NIMBY, I guess.
premiumj - I have a idea. Stop using oil and oil byproducts. I am sure you wont miss plastic, asphalt roads, gas, etc. Looks like this may be a good solution to the frac fluid problem, frac away!!!
don't ya love the Prius drivers in this crowd? We Have to have energy.
It is a dirty business.
Coal is the dirtiest but very plentiful.
Natural gas all of the sudden is very plentiful and much cleaner than coal.
Then there is Nuclear, the lowest emissions, the cleanest, and oh it used to be the darling of the Prius driving crowd who at the time were driving Micro VW vans, but now it is the favorite whipping boy, oh one must love progressives lol
johnmcfadden - The Prius crowd is about feeling good. Nuclear, fracing (domestic oil), etc. does not make them feel good. Now, solar, wind, Prius, Whole foods, bikes, etc. those feel good!
"frankfurter: Their PR folks are paid _very_ well." ---- Yet, their PR folks are extremely stupid. This past summer, there was a commercial where four college students in an auditorium have a debate on fracking where the "its bad" start of the argument turns to "its good" within five seconds time and all leave happpy. It was just sooooo believable. BTW, how did these researchers figure out which bacteria to use? The jerk companies won't tell ANYONE what their secret recipe is for the fracking liquid! It's proprietary information. Yeah, my arse it is. More likely is that it has too many carcinogens to list on one page.
The "drill baby drill" crowd are the same ones that are constantly harping about what kind of debt we're leaving our grandchildren. But yet they don't give a rip about what kind of environment we'll be leaving them. When they're all dying from toxic waste diseases, do you think they'll really care about the debt?
All that right wing extremists have to say is "try living without oil" and they get to cop-out on the responsibility of keeping corporations from making the environment toxic to the future babies they demand be saved from abortion. Lets just call a spade a spade.
