Wayzata kicks off major lakefront project

Last week, Wayzata celebrated the start of a year-long process to decide how the city can boost its treasured lakefront.

Imagine the impossible: a Wayzata without railroad tracks between the town and the lakeshore! What beautiful and people-friendly dreams might bloom there.

Anyone ever heard of tunnels? Put the train below grade from the yacht club to Ferndale...problem solved.

@ssswanson: having the railroad between the town and the shoreline has been J.J. Hill's best gift to Wayzata -- otherwise, private development would be blocking the view of the lake from Lake Street.

Sorry to see this happen. Is there anything they won't "develop" here? What happened to preserving the lakefront? Who needs a 10K ice rink?
