Memo to Robin Ventura - Twins fans waited 6+ years to see the potential with Frankie. Good luck with that! I wonder if Frankie makes the post season roster with the Sox?

I get how the Twins are stuck with Mauer in perpetuity bc they drafted him, he is a great contact hitter and a hometown boy. But seriously, look at AJ's numbers along with his intangible leadership qualities and his salary and tell me you wouldn't rather have that guy on your team than Mauer for the last 7 years. AJ doesn get hurt, his numbers are solid to way above average for a catcher every year he plays, and he has that attitude you need from a guy that plays in a down-and-dirty position. So you pay AJ 5 million a season and then you have $18 mill to spend on one superstar or 9 million a piece to spend on two all-star caliber players. Or you could take that $23 million and give it to Joe Mauer. You tell me what you would rather have: AJ and either Hanley Ramirez or David Wright type guy or AJ and Curtis Granderson and Jason Kubel, OR Joe Mauer
