This is so sad. I can not belive that they are actually going to do this. The owners will ultimately get their way. The players need to wake up. Their careers are limited. Get while the getting is good. It's stunning they can't see that.

Parise needs a few lessons in history before making a comment like that. Zach is apparently too young to know the way Fehr operates. Pot, kettle.

Both sides are foolish and greedy. Players - you are getting paid to play a game for crying out loud! It's not like you have to go to an office desk every day or show up at the gas station for your shift and "grind it" like the rest of us. Owners - How wealthy do you need to be? I get it, capitalism has no limit, fine but you still need to rationalize your decisions at some point. The people who really lose here are the stadium employees, the businesses (bars, restaurants, etc...) that get a bump from fan patronage. The fans lose out only from the standpoint that a form of entertainment isn't available. Be careful NHL, don't assume we will all come flocking back. The piece of the entertainment budget that pro hockey currently occupies can be replaced!!!!

Leave the current cap and split in place for this year but walk it down to a 50/50 split as time goes on and as the revenue increases. Leave the free agency alone. Limit contracts to 4 years with an option(5th) year at the owners discretion. Lengthen the rookie contracts to 4 years and get the revenue sharing straightened out to stabilize all the franchises. Oh, and get the player safety squared away so we don't have to watch the marginal idiots run at and take out the best players in the world with cheapshots. Not to mention it is simply the right thing to do and good for business too ! Let's play hockey !!
