How much is a year's supply?

You hear all the time of contests that promise a year's supply of a product to the winner. But how do companies determine what that is?

Disappointing article. I was expecting an explanation of what is involved in the Mormon faith's directive that every family stockpile a year's supply of food. That would have been far more interesting. The best thing about this article was that it inspired me to google that more interesting topic because of the title.
