Pressure's the point for Vikings defensive lineman

In a rarity, Vikings defensive linemen didn't record a sack in the opener. That's not a concern, they say.

Allen is the real deal as a football player. Yet if he spends a significant amount of time on the bench as he did against Jacksonville, it's going to be tough for anyone to get sacks (from the bench). Let him play.

"seaside: Allen is the real deal as a football player. Let him play." ---- Allen is a marketing tool. He can't play a lot because he gets too tired. And, he got a sack. He just had to be five yards offside in order to get to the QB!

Jared Allen had a sack in Jacksonville's first possession, but he was called for offsides. It looked on replay like he timed it perfectly, even the announcers thought so. Therefore, he was robbed by the replacement refs.

Allen is a great DE but the game and defenses are changing. It's moving more towards more versitile athletic players who can play several positions. Allen is great in a regular 4-3 defense, like the Tampa 2. But that defense has seen it's last days due to the more pass happy play and coordinators have learned to beat it. DEs are now being asked to drop into coverage while LBers rush the passer. Allen refuses to drop back. It's not his game. As long as he's a Viking they will run it the way they do. But his presence is onlymdelaying the defense from evolving and getting better, and younger. This will be his last year as a Viking.

Jerry Allen is all about Jerry Allen. He only cares about getting attention on himself.

what the heck is this talk about jarred allen being only about himself and getting personal stats?? ridiculous. He does drop back into coverage also. He got an interceptipon last year while dropping back. In my opinion he would be the ultimate teammate to have. Get a clue haters!

Tabarnoosh - "Allen refuses to drop back. It's not his game." If you watch more closely, he actually does drop back... Notched an interception against Ryan Mathews of the chargers last year this way...

Allen played a very poor game last week. We move on and hope he comes out firing this week. I am sure he played hard, but he was almost invisible last week.

If anyone on the D-Line cannot get to Luck with regularity, he will shread that secondary....Luck is THAT good. He could throw for 500 if he has time. The D line has to make him feel very uncomfortable and then he will make mistakes, alot of them.

I still don't understand where all this reported "pressure" on Gabbert was. Seemed to me like he was pretty comfy back there all day.
