Trying to clone an animal that has gone extinct because nature didn't select it to survive is beyond ridiculous. There are many other more worthy causes that could use the money.

Ya, like wind farms and solar energy companies. There is some room for the ethics debate, but stopping a line of science because you want the funding to go to your pet project is incredibly selfish.
