Yep, The S&P 500 index, the stock portion of our retirement savings, went from 909.73 when Obama took office to 1429.08 at the close today. Granted, we pulled out of the market when it started to drop and didn't buy back in until it started to recover in March 2009 but you gotta love a 57% incresae.

Ask Bin Laden if he is better off now.

Hmmm... Iam I better off than when? When the economy was falling of a cliff? When the country was losing hundreds of thousands of jobs per month? When foreclosures were rampant in every neighborhood? When the US auto industry and hundreds of thousands of jobs if not millions of jobs dependent upon it was virtually finished for good? When our banks were on the absolute verge of total collapse? When our international relations were at an all time low? When thousands of troops were still fighting in Iraq on multiple deployments? When we didnt know where Osama Bin Laden was hiding? When 90 years of health care reform in the making was still just a dream? When BUSH was still in office? Yeah, if thats when you're talking about, then I, and my country, are definitely better off.

The unemployment rate is now lower than when Obama took office.

Let us not forget how we got into this mess in the first place. Things are slowly getting better maybe not as fast as we would like but better.

Great cartoon! No, the middle class is not better off. Someone has to pay for the deficit, we will!

If gas prices don't go down soon the Republican lever on the voting booth will.

supervon2Sep. 11, 12 9:48 AM

I'll be feeling a lot better off after I vote Republican in November.

2008 - unemployment 9.7%, gas $3.70 a gallon, trillions in debt from off-book wars with no-bid contracts - and you have to even ask?

Are we better off today than four years ago? I think as a whole, our nation is better off. The housing market is picking up again, employment is starting to rise, the stock market is doing well, car sales are up and this morning I was at MSP and Terminal 1 parking lot was filled and closed. Elect Team R&R and watch it all fall apart as taxes on the middle class rise, unions busted, health care becomes more expensive and fewer people have it. The Republicans caused this mess. I do not think Americans are stupid enough to put them back in office. Do you?
