Ponder shaky at first, ends on solid footing

After starting out looking like a wide-eyed rookie, he rose to the challenge as the game's pressure tightened -- a promising sign.

We've seen no flashes of brilliance from Ponder until today. Maybe this is the turning point of his career and it's all uphill from here!

The second half was diffinetly Ponder's best football as a Vike. I was a little skiddish going into the game because Simpson and J. Wright were inactive and the Vikes were running the same wr out on the field as last year and we all know how that worked out. Jenkins and Aromushadu stepped up with Percy and Rudolf and they got it done. Hopefully Carlson starts to contribute more and when Simpson comes back the Vikes will be formidable once again.Lets hope Ponder and the O keep moving forward.

Ponder took some big steps today. And it seems the team responded, which is the biggest of things. They have to believe Ponder can pull one out late. They're starting to.

Why would anyone post a negative comment today after that game. There was so much to be positive about. I'm thrilled to death that Ponder showed something. That's the most important thing this year. And we have a kicker! (I love touchbacks!) Yes, we almost blew it, but I blame that on Frazier for not even trying to get a first down at the end. A minute and a half is too much time - even with no timeouts. If you're being negative today then you're not a real fan.

@RealVike...why would anyone? because their defense was atrocious...just awful...Jared Allen was steamed...they have a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball win or no win..

Understandably, it being the first game of the year there was going to be some kinks to work out....having a kicker that can make 50+ yard FG's and a QB that is starting to handle the pressure, is something to look forward to each week.....

Give the ball to Percy

The word is skittish, not skiddish.

If you factor the game as a WHOLE, 4 quaters for Ponder-he was nothing more than average. He'll never be more than just an average QB in this league. How many wish, we lost that WASH game last year, so we picked #2 and have RGIII on the team now? Griffin lit it up with 40 points against the Saints in his very first start! We'll probably play Ponder for the next 3 years, until we realize the experiment is over.

siouxchamp - if the Vikes has lost the Washington game last year, they would have traded the #2 pick. No way Griffin is on this team. Ponder is the Vikes quarterback. Live with it. And, do you really want to follow a team that would intentially lose any game?
