Oh right, it's an established scientific fact that beer sales to spectators directly increase athletes' performance on the field. Come on, this isn't as much about the Gophers as it is about setting the stage for the Vikings crowd to be able to get plastered enough to sit through a game!

$7.25 per beer--if students can afford to "get plastered" at that price, just think what they'll pay for parking, textbooks, and "lab fees.". Seriously, that is what University administrators might take from this report. On the other hand, if you can net about $7/beer, you're wondering why you'd ever want to sell a ticket to anyone under 21?

What a shock!!! Students and fans are able to have a great time on a Saturday with beer and wine?? To those who opposed these sales...what is there to grype about? People behaving and having fun??? The police say the day went great. So whats the argument??

Does anybody know if they sell beer at Camp Randall Stadium? I have been there several times (but not for a few years) I can remember seeing and hearing thousands of drunks and a stadium that looked at the end of the game like there had been a mass looting of a liquor store but I can't remember any "official" beer sales. I've heard they have "beer gardens" outside of the stadium and the neighboring bars go crazy each football game. I'm one of those fans who doesn't "need" a beer to have a good time so beer sales don't matter to me.

We're Gopher FB season ticket holders, and we applaud the decision to sell alcohol at the games. As the article notes, the crowd was well-behaved and sales went pretty smoothly. From our seats, we had a birds-eye view of the beer lines, and there was no shortage of thirsty fans lined up for a couple of cold ones. Judging by what we saw on Saturday, the U of M will exceed its estimate of $2mill in alcohol sale revenue. Ski-U-Mah!
