Former coach-turned-TV analyst Glen Mason liked what he saw out of the Gophers defensive line in rushing the passer.

Who cares what Mason thinks, he's just another observer now. I still remember when he had Maroney and crew and had Iowa on the ropes, but continued to run the ball into an 11 man box. The commentators all said, any flare pass would be a big gain, but Mason ran 3 plays into the line and then kicked and missed a 55 yard field goal and a Florida bowl game. Kill is getting this team back where it belongs. Go Gophers.

Mason is purposely trying to belittle the program. So when he goes to another D1 coaching job, he will try and lure the Minnesota recruits out of state. This so called "supporter" is a phony. His whole broadcast was negative against the Gophers. Wanting Marquis to throw the ball when you have a lead over 30 points is just classless. Especially when the defense had 4 linemen, 2 linebackers, and 5 defensive backs on the field. You should always take what the defense gives you, and thats running the ball all day. Effectively! You won 44-7 and Gray scored 4 touchdowns and wanted more out of Gray? When are Minnesotians going to stop listening to this clown!

Completely disagree with gophsfan. Mason has become a top-notch analyst, and he was saying exactly what many of us were thinking: with the game in the bag, that's the time to work on weak areas. That would be Gray's passing. There was no point in having him run keepers into the line in the 4th quarter. We know he can do that, and do it well. Mason was spot on.

Gray can pass. He improved a lot last season and it showed the last several games including vs a great Spartan defense. Sure the first game was bad but he simply tried to throw everything to hard and he sailed line drives over the WR's heads. He has a pretty strong arm and made the adjustment yesteday showing some touch, despite the low attempts. Kill knows what they have already so they don't need to get him work passing the ball late in a blowout game. They will open it up more when teams stack the box and actually slow down the running game.

Gophsfan- Mason is not going to be a D1 coach again. BTW, People that live on Mars are Martians. People that live in Minnesota are Minnesotans.
