It is cool that U of M students get to interact with Walter Mondale. I am proud to live in a state where our leaders, even the old timers of a past generation, are interested in working with the younger generation.

It is sad that higher education has become so expensive recently. These kids have a great opportunity to amortize that expense over a 20 years period at a fixed interest rate. They should fire up their peers because the alternative is mortgaging your future to a for-profit money hungry Ebenezer Scrooge and his cronies.

jcinmn, great point. College expense has gotten out of control. We need some university leaders to find creative ways to reduce their cost structure and focus on affordable education. Maybe Fritz has some ideas.

I hope the Star Tribune does a follow up story with these girls in about 6-8 years - after they've graduated and have well paying jobs. Once they realize that then THEY are the enemy and forced to pay for the lazy and underperformers, their sentiments will change drastically. It happened with most of my friends as we went through the U of M - fell for the liberal propaganda from all the professors and voted Democrat like lemmings. Then once we all got out in the real world and realized that WE are the ones paying outrageous taxes while perfectly employable people sit home and collect a check from our wages, we realized the farce that is propagated throughout the U of M system. Good luck girls, let this be a lesson.

It would baffle me to find out that college students are pro-Obama. Half of the new grads cannot find jobs. The jobs that have been filled by grads are paying less than 4 years ago. America is poorer, weaker, less free and more dependent on government than when Obama took office. How could this possible appeal to college students?
