It was wrong when deployed against Kerry, and it's wrong against Romney.
What else can obama do but launch personal attacks and try to smear his opponents with lies. Last night they paraded a guy on stage who told of how Romney destroyed his life by closing the steel plant and putting him out of work. The only problem is, is that the guy never even worked as an employee in the steel mill. He was a union official.
What seems to be true in political campaign is that only the "other" side is crossing the line.
Give me break. With all of the lies told by Romney and Ryan at the GOP convention, it's too bad they can't be tried for perjury. I don't care if they didn't swear on a stack of bibles, bold face lies to the American public are the worst kind of unpatriotic. And their oath to Grover Norquist is just more proof.
First I have heard that Romney was in Vietnam. I thought he was in France proselytizing during his away stint in the service of his religion. And the guy that was the "union official"? Do you think that telling people that you have stripped them of their job, benefits and probably their family's future is trivial? What amazing indifference to the welfare of those around you.
And I thought it was wonderful that the DNC turned the "Are you better off now than four years ago" into a rallying cry.
I would argue that people that make tons of money in America, and then manage to avoid paying taxes on it by hiding it in off shore accounts, even though they are already super rich, are more selfish than patriotic.
I've been saying since the early days of his presidency that the Obama Administration is in many ways an extension of the Bush Administration. Thanks for proving me right, DNC.
I couldn't disagree more with this column. The Democrats biggest mistake was not taking the gloves off and fighting the repubs with their own tactics a long time ago. Nixon gave birth to it, Atwater refined it and Rove took it to another level. The Dems have been too passive and need to drop the hammer.
Romney isn't "investing" in Switzerland any more than I "invest" in US Bank when I deposit a paycheck. Does the author really believe that Swiss and Cayman bank accounts exist for reasons other than tax avoidance? And cue the violins for poor Romney needing to defend his patriotism becaus of tax avoidance. As he said, no one has asked to see his birth certificate.
"Does the author really believe that Swiss and Cayman bank accounts exist for reasons other than tax avoidance?" Maybe they also exist so that people who live in those countries have a place to bank.
Remember, Obama will do anything and say anything to gain a few votes. A recent Obama ad stated that the decision to kill bin Laden was very risky for Obama if our Seals had been captured or killed. The meaning was that Obama could have lost votes if the mission failed and Seals were captured or killed. What about the Seals and their families, that is where the risk of capture or kill means something. This placement of Obama's political future above the lives of our Seals and their families angered me so much. What kind of a man is so self possessed?
