Just from a simple overlook of the new citizens one thing is clear...the only enriching these people will be doing is the enrichment of their own pocketbook through freebies. Meanwhile people like myself who have two bachelors degrees (one in a foreign language) and were an EMT among other jobs have long since left the building. I am glad I left the US. I am now learning my third language. The most bright, entrepreneurial, rich, and educated have woken up and are leaving in droves. This is what you get in return. Good luck Amerika. You are going to need it.

Congratulations, but I'm guessing there will be about 1497 new Obama voters on November 6th. Hopefully, the new citizens will assimilate, but the trend lately seems to be against it.

Where do you think the 'most bright, entrepreneurial, rich, and educated' came from to begin with, peterschiff? What a racist, ignorant statement that was. Enjoy yourself wherever you end up; I know we'll enjoy having you gone.

What a wonderful news. Minnesota is home to people from 100 countries enriching our state and adding to the foods and culture these new citizens bring. As a naturalized US citizen myself, I know what a big day it must have been for each of the 1500 people there. I congratulate the new citizens and wish them the best as they make MN their home. I do hope all of them register to vote and exercise their right to vote, which ever party they vote for.

Dear Peterschiff, Thank you for your well wishes from abroad. We also wish you all the best. Your ability to judge people's characters by a mere glance at a photo is impressive! This will be your greatest talent that we will miss. I am most interested in what location/nation that you have found that meets your current requirements for a country, please do tell. Warmest regards, your old friend America(traditional spelling)

Some statistics like country of origin would really add to this article. I'm personally interested what the trends are. Also, what is a "normal" month, and what makes this month so significant? Is it a trend or a blip? Anything else we can know about what to expect moving forward vs. what we've seen in the past? All of these things would add greatly to the article. As far as immigration in Minnesota is concerned, I'm all for it, especially if we're bringing in people with new/different/better skills and ideas!

Where do you think the 'most bright, entrepreneurial, rich, and educated' came from to begin with, peterschiff? I'm sure I won't miss your presence. Racist, bigoted statements like that aren't needed in my America.

Who is going to pay for all of these new "Americans"? You want to welcome people to this country, who really want to be here, and can add to our tax base, but if you are going to just come here and hangout because being poor here, is like being rich where you came from, NO THANKS! Stay home, we dont need you, and cant afford you.

From the looks of the crowd inducted, the Minnesota and United States most of us grew up in will soon exist only in memory. Many "thanks" to Teddy Kennedy and the rest of those in Congress who voted to massively overhaul our immigration system in the mid-1960's. Oh, what a blessing to those of us who were born in this country to be so permanently enriched by all these interesting languages, foods, cultures, and third-world traditions. Hey Congress, with long-term unemployment and massive deficits as far as the eye can see, do you think it might be time to pull back the immigration reigns a bit? One million of the so-called "wretched refuse" of the world landing on our shores every year is getting to be a bit much, don't ya think??

Ya we need more people from a lawless country that is Somalia! They are only now getting some form of government back from the spending of the Obama administration wasting taxpayer money on that country!
