I really hope they haven't destroyed it. Newer doesn't always mean better.

I laughed when I read about springs coming up through seats. I once stood up after a movie there and felt and heard a huge tear. A spring coil caught my pants and ripped a big hole in them. That's all I needed to keep me from going back. I've been waiting for this remodel.

I will miss the nostalgic old Uptown: the creaking 1960s seats, vintage woodwork and pipes, the chance to find the bathrooms by smell alone... Oh well, hopefully we will get something nice in return...

It looks like they kept the mythology art flanking the screen - that's encouraging. I don't want them to gut the place.

I'm surprised they kept the wall murals. They're really poorly done and not even original. I think a young usher did them back in the 80s based on some blurry old photos of the room in the 30s.

Can't wait to check out the new seats. While I loved the classic features of the theatre, for anybody over 5'8", there was no way to be comfortable in those seats. From that standpoint, new is good.

Fluff and puff as far as I'm concerned and a waste of money too. Without doubt the best show in town and the best value too has always been at the Riverview. Plus the best popcorn and FREE PARKING. And a little birdie told me that they are going digital too later in the year. Stay tuned.

I will always think that it is a good thing to get these vintage theaters back up and running! No cramped, sticky, nasty, baby sitter strip mall multiplexes for me. The classy, roomy Riverview is a great local model that along with the wine bar across the street, makes the perfect cheap date. So I am glad to hear that the old Uptown is cleaned up and ready to roll the films once again.
