Just give all the student tickets away to avoid embarrassment of seeing all the concrete.

Pretty sure it's the prices. You used to get a pair of season tickets and a T-shirt for $30 @ the dome. I think it is $85, plus an extra $275 for an extra guest ticket for the season this year. No t-shirt either. I wouldn't go to the bank considering those numbers either..

Lots of students commute or travel home on the weekends.

Been a student, folks of high riders get their tickets paid for. Books or tickets go figure!

Badger student season tickets are $168 (plus $20 processing fee) and they sold over 13,000 in 30 minutes. I'm thinking the challenges with the Gopher ticket sales aren't based on price alone. When I went to Wisconsin during the non-winning years (1988-1992), people went to see the band and stay for 5th quarter.

Yet Joel Maturi still gets a paycheck. The schools that draw fans occaisionally put a competitive team on the field. Until the University of Minnesota is either willing to or learns how to keep athletic kids who aren't too bright in class and elligible just as Wisconsin and Iowa do (and yes, that includes cheating and not getting caught), that 288 million dollars has been wasted needlessly.

Why bother to go? The gophers have already won their one game for the year. OK, I'm being sarcastic, but it's closer to the truth than it should be. Put a consistent winning team on the field that goes to something besides the toilet bowl and the stands will be full.
