"It takes a big man to admit he was wrong" Sounds like this guy has always wanted what is best, even as his awareness of 'best' changes. Kudos.
"Veronica now lives with a virtual stranger."
It has been 10 months since Veronica first went to live with Dusten Brown. That is about a third of Veronica's life. You wrote this article less than a month ago. Do you honestly believe she is living with a "virtual stranger?" At this point, the only people she likely remembers are the Browns. In the ten months she has been with the Browns, there have been no allegations of abuse or neglect. There is absolutely NO reason to believe Veronica will ever end up in foster care. Why would you suggest that when even the Capobiancos don't believe she's being abused or neglected?
You are comparing this case to one that is completely unrelated. How about comparing it to the Baby Jessica or Baby Richard case? Both of those children were given back to their biological families after the age of 2. Neither remembers their adoptive parents and are extremely attached to their bio parents. Neither of them ended up in foster care.
"Veronica’s birth father waited four months after her birth to file for custody, and didn’t pay child support for 16 months."
I think it's telling that you worded this the way you did without providing any context. First, Dusten was not even aware of the adoption until Veronica was 4 months old. And, those 16 months you're referring to were when Veronica was living with the Capobianco's against Dusten's will. Since when do biological parents have to pay child support to a people who are keep their child against their will in a contested adoption? There was no child support order by the Court and the Capobianco's never asked for it. Also, if the Capobiancos weren't trying to push this adoption through, Veronica would have been living with Dusten and he would have been supporting her.
You're spinning the facts because you assume people don't know any better. Don't get me wrong - Dusten Brown made several mistakes and he will one day have to explain to Veronica why he didn't step up sooner. But, if you can't win your argument without spinning the facts and omitting details, you should rethink you're argument.
