This years Fair was AWESOME!
I think this may be indicative of the economic trend toward staycations over vacations.
I thought Monday was unusually crowded...so it wasn't just my imagination.
Thanks for the Memories...and the pronto pups!
ARRey sez: Dag nab it all anyway. We was hopin' for a record turnout this year. If only the rides on the Midway woulda worked right. Or mebbe that swine flu scared 'em all away!
I've said this for a few years, but with attendance records, or near-records, the last few years, I contend it is time to extend the fair from 12 days to 15 days. The fair should start on a Monday, rather than on a Thursday, and it should still wrap up on Labor Day. That way, it spreads the crowds out a bit, which means shorter lines at booths, and it means I spend more money while I'm there. I passed on several food items on Friday because the lines were just too long. Yes, some people who usually go twice would go three times, etc., but I believe if the fair is a few days longer, it makes it more manageable for everyone.
Sorry, fans, but there are no awards for "almost"
I went, but avoided tghe swine barns. Love the fair, but swine should have been kept home.
There have been rumors swirling about the possibility of going to 15 days for years. 17 days would make more sense to get an extra weekend in. Many more people attend on weekends anyhow. Going to 15 or 17 days makes the expenses go up, but income wouldn't go up all that much. Extending the fair also screws up the schedule for all the food vendors and Midway rides that travel from fair to fair.
Can't wait for next year!
