What has Slama done or said? What must he do to get a shot. He has been brought up a couple of times and not done well, but he didn't do any worse than some of the guys that are there now. And each time, he wasn't given much of a chance. He must have insulted someone or maybe he has bad personal hygiene?

This whole season has turned into a complete joke. Not calling up Slama makes it official. 1. You have an open 40 man spot so there is zero risk in calling up another player. 2. Terry Ryan said the "were going to reward guys who had good years" Guess 1.24 ERA, 56 K in 36 IP and dominating AAA hitters isn't good? 3. Slama will become a free agent after this year so its either put him on the 40 man and give him a shot or loose him. Someone (Oakland) will snap him up in no time. 4. He has 7 MLB innings that were poor but 325 minor league innings that are great. He couldn't do more to earn a chance. 5. The Twins bullpen has featured great relievers such as Gray, Manship, Robertson, and Matt Maloney so its clearly not talent blocking his path. Sad end for his GREAT season!

Gardenhire can't decide what to call him. Slamy could work.

or it could be that each time up, Slama has struggled.

to be fair jaytee. He has been called up twice for a total of 7 innings. 2010 he struggled and 2011 he had 0.00 ERA in 2.1 innings with 2 BB and 3 K. So he didn't struggle in 2011. Both sample sized are WAY too small to make a judgement either way. It's just bad policy to have a potential good asset and not test it before getting rid of it. If your selling a car, wouldn't you want to see if it runs before you sell it for scrap?

The Twins are so pathetic that you don't even have to be above the Mendoza line to be called up.

The first sentence saying the Twins had called up two "September reinforcements" made me laugh out loud. What, pray tell, will they be reinforcing?

Slama is just another mystery or maybe par for the course for an organization that seems to have forgot how (or refuses)to field a competitive team and run an organization. How about one of our ace TWINS reporters actually does some digging to find out what's up? They are almost as bad at their jobs as Ryan, Gardy, Anderson and Pohlad. So no one gets called up so we can watch Parmalee play? Why wasn't he up long ago? Oh yeah, Sal's kid.

How many more times are we going to desperately re-arrange the deck chairs on this Titanic before we just grab a drink, light up a stogie & let her sink with some dignity?

commonsens4u - you nailed it, great post. But is it denial on the part of management or is it a calculated business model designed to maximize profits? Either way the loyal fans end up going down with the ship as the owners grab the lifeboats. Pohlads can sell the Twins at any time with the shiny new stadium and will profit significantly. Fans are the losers and anyone who pays for the product on the field these days is insuring it will continue.
