City government panel opposes mandatory protest permits

Says... "Congress shall make no law respecting... the right of the people peaceably to assemble". The law should remain the same, and any law which either restricted or even made it easier for the people to peaceably assemble would be unconstitutional. Such laws would respect (in arcane usage, to look again at) the right of assembly.

Wasn't there a demonstration in Minneapolis last week involving 1000 +/- people who blocked traffic for an hour, did not get the required permit and the city did nothing basically? Why??

ca2642, way to lump everyone into one neat little package. I guess that means all liberals are radical activists who wouldn't recognize a peaceful demonstration if one trampled over their civil liberties, right? Oh, also, way to inject the Second Amendment dig into this, too. Nice touch!
