The Vikings always seem enamored with the idea of keeping QB "projects" around that never end up amounting to much. Todd Bowman, Tyler Thigpen, John David Booty, Joe Webb, and now Mr. Bethel-Thompson.

Hardy's .229 avg with 18 HR would still be ab improvement.

I think that part of the motivation to release Sage was to solidify Ponder's position as the #1 QB through the entire season, despite his performance. If Ponder stinks, they don't want fans calling for Sage to replace him. They did the same thing with Sage when T-Jack was the starter. If they feel so confident about Ponder at QB, why did did they draft MBT.

This is obviously about 2 things: 1) Money; and 2) Nobody expects the Vikings to compete. You can be sure that if the Vikings were contenders they would keep a veteran back-up. But they're not, so they figure why waste the money on Sage?

Maurice Jones-Drew being in uniform week 1 does not concern me...if past "High profile" running back holdouts histories hold true...this will be a bust of a season for him because he will be out of sync and his performance will be a topic of turmoil all season long...just ask Chris Johnson

What's the point of the JJ Hardy comment Sid? In 2011...Hardy hit .269 with 30 home-runs for Baltimore...what have the Twins gotten out of their short-stops? Give me a break...Smith blew it big time and Ryan and his buddy Ronnie are right behind.

IMHO, Bethel-Thompson has an absolute cannon for an arm. It looks almost young Favre strong. If Ponder had his arm, we would really have something. You can't teach that kind of arm strength, and they are simply hoping that they can teach him the subtleties of the game so he can be a player. At this point, he needs to work on his reads and consistency in terms of accuracy. They didn't draft him, he was a free agent signing after spending some time in the "minor league." Sage looked great in the preseason, but his arm strength, which was never great, has continued to weaken. I think he would be more than happy for having the extra million, or whatever sum, he made to come back and work for a few months. Its not like anybody else was offering him a bunch of money to be a backup.

What could we get for Peterson before he gets injured and career ended this year?
