The Vikings were encouraged by Jasper Brinkley's play in his last preseason appearance, but the middle linebacker still has to prove he can handle the important position.

I love the Vikings. That being said, I hope we have 2 wins this season...Green Bay away and Green Bay at home. What could be better for this team than to end up with the number 1 draft pick next year...trade it away for 3 number 1's and a couple 3's. I think the front office is going in the right direction with the team. The problem is they have a lot of ground to cover and many upgrades to make on the field. Unfortunately, a bunch of our players wouldn't even make most other squads because of their talent level. That's why we need the draft picks....

Long Long season once again. How have we improved? Speilman went out and got Carr and Bowman to upgrade our secondary. Great pickups LOL, they are both let go. Harrison may be a upgrade but we need alot more than him. Our 4th round superstar wide receivers LOL, are hurt. Look for us to win 2 games this year if lucky. I don't know which 2 they would be because Indy with the Colts will now play hard after trying to get Luck last year and he was impressive in pre-season, Jacksonville may be the only win but don't count on it. The Rams with Jackson will run over us and Bradford finally has some receivers. Washington with RG111 will beat us. Ponder has to show something this year. Why did the Vikings Ponder when he wasn't in anyones books to be a franchise Qb. They thought Ponder could be another Rogers? Rogers wouldn't be half the Qb he is if he didn't have the receivers he has. A Qb needs receivers. We only have a slot receiver in Harvin and maybe Simpson may be good. But you need 3 or 4. They keep talking about Rudolph being so good. I'm not impressed with him. The Vikings will be a low scoring team if we have to depend on Peterson. Passing teams put up the points. And it won't take them long to score on the Vikings. One of the 3 wins we might get may be the Packers, we should have beat them last year in the first game. The Packers are notorius for losing to the Vikings and if we beat them that will be our Super bowl for this year.

I think just as important as his play is: Can Brinkley stay healthy? He has a career that says, no he can't.

I can already answer the questions about Jasper....he's a decent special teams player and solid back up thrust into a starting role. He is not a quality starter in this league, and is going to get roasted week in and week out. What's more, the Vikings brain trust don't seem to have a back up plan. It's truly baffling.

It is a good thing, the Vikings are in a rebuilding mode. To automatically give the medicore Brinkley, the starting MLB spot on the team, after he was hurt most of last year, and did not participate in training camp, is best described, as a move by a desperate team. If Brinkley gets hurt, would like to see our most athletic lb, Audie Cole be given a chance at MLB position. He did play some MLB at NC State, and has the athleticism to play any LB position.

twinsfan; the packers only had ONE proven receiver when rodgers took over, donald driver. the others are good but rodgers had alot to do with that. you have to have somebody to throw the ball to but GREAT qb's make the recievers better and win with anyone. i agree 100% with "a desperate move by a desperate team" thats all we have done. spielman stop bargan shopping from other teams cellars (bowman and carr cant even make the team) bring in some quality FA's and bring in SOMEONE who can find us some talent in the later rounds of the draft.

All I can say is Jasper needs to look behind him and be afraid! Because Tyrone McKenzie played INCREDIBLY WELL in the preseason and has looked much better than Brinkley. Either way, we need to get McKenzie on the field this year because he is a GAMER!

Had this team admitted last year they were not a good team and started the rebuilding last year we would be in MUCH better shape. But they were in DENIAL....... Actually we should have been rebuilding since midway through 2010. Ponder should have been starting week one last year NOT McSLAB!! Bad coaching decisions, very bad.........

If you think about it this year's team has more than just Jasper that has been handed a starting position by default of either draft selection or lack of depth: QB (although shown nothing so far) Middle and Outside LBs (depth) Safety (Raymond due to depth issues) DLine: Guion Receiver: Jenkins BTW: I fear the Vikes will regret the decision to opt for Walsh over Longwell. There's a reason he couldn't make FGs his senior year and has missed one each game in the preseason. If he misses one every other game NFL standards.
