It is a shame watching him and his production decline on the downhill side of his career. The vikings should have traded him when he had some value. By the time the vikings rebuild their team Peterson will be gone.

Not sure why Peterson is in such a rush to return to a last place caliber team that is so poorly coached they will be lucky to win 4 or 5 games this season and that is being optimistic due to a very favorable schedule. Also, I'm tired of hearing about what a "physical freak of nature" and what a "beast" Peterson is. If he was any more special than any other gifted running back the NFL has seen than he wouldn't have gotten hurt in the first place. Peterson is no more of a human being than any other talent in the NFL and healing his knee after major surgery will take time like everyone else. Besides, all the Petersons in the world will never make up for the viking's overall lack of talent on both sides of the ball not to mention their clueless low budget amatuer coaching staff they continue to keep in place.

Great column Sid...The vision of him not being able to get to the bathroom or up the stairs just a few months ago puts his recovery into perspective. Now he wants to get back on the field as soon as possible where he knows that everyone is going to be coming after his knee? That's like wanting to go into shark infested waters with a leg that's bleeding!

What kind of a coach justifies sitting an inexperienced Ponder most of the preseason, yet plays AP on the second-to-last game in a totally meaningless season?
