If Christian Ponder is what he seems to be, even a losing season will prove worthwhile. If he's not, the rebuilding process could become a once-interesting concept awaiting demolition.

Let me make this VERY CLEAR. Ponder will never be an elite QB. He will be average, perhaps middle of the pack. Anyone expecting Aaron Rogers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or even Tony Romo will be VERY disappointed. I predict the Vikings will never win a playoff game with Ponder as QB.

Ponder never has been and never will be an NFL caliber starting QB. The Vikings just released the type of NFL QB Ponder will be at his best.

We will never know, because having Bill Musgrave as your coordinator snuffs the whole entire scenario out cold !

give it time...He just needs to learn to trust his O-line and with the vikings thats not easy...baby steps...But an interesting article none the less... I for one would rather have Ponder then what the NY Jets got going on!

Is Kalil the real deal? Can Johnson play guard better than he did tackle? Is Fusco the answer at rg and can Loadholt return to his old form? What are the Vikes going to do w/out Simpson for the first three games? How healthy is AP? With Carlson out most of preseason, will the Vikes multiple te sets be effective? Is the secondary improved enough to stop opponents from scoring at will? These are the same questions as last year and until there are positive answers to most of these questions Ponder does not have a prayer of being an elite QB. I like Ponder and think he is a good fit for the Vikes but he needs help from the coaches and front office to be given a fair shot and time will tell but I don't think they added much help this offseason

All the adjectives and superlatives cannot make up for bad stats and bad play. Ponder needs a lot better coaching and a lot better team if he will ever have a chance to learn to be successful.

@metaltester... The Jet's have 2 QB's who are light years ahead of Ponder and Webb. The Jet's coaching staff makes the Viking's staff look like pee-wee football coaches.

We're talking about CHRISTIAN Ponder, right? The story says Ponder thrived on third downs and in the red zone, indicating that poise is not a problem. When he has an open receiver, he tends to pass quickly and accurately. He displays the arm strength to throw the toughest pass in football, the deep out, and the touch to complete long passes. Still not sure we're talking about CHRISTIAN Ponder.

The sleeper on the team is McLeod-Bethel Thompson. He played last for the Sacramento Mountain Lions in the arena league or something, doesn't matter, just like Kurt Warner, and has a rifle arm, also just like Kurt Warner. Don't count him out and I predict by the end of the season you all will be singing Hey (hey), you (you), get off of McLeod ! ! !

No qb, no hope. Ponder is the single biggest factor how successful the Vikings will be this season. Personally, I have my doubts, but let's give him the chance--you can never go by the rookie year.
