since I heed the signs and don't touch the pigs, I'm more concerned about swine flies. they bite hard.

Pray we don't see more from the fair after the questionable decision.

Thanks for helping me make the decision to NOT visit the Swine Barn at the Minnesota State Fair. At least NOT this year, anyway. I'm not sure about future years. Hopefully, the authorities will allow me to bring a HazMat suit into the Swine Barn. Without a HazMat suit, I would faint at the thought of all the Swine germs that I would pick up and -- Unknowingly -- spread to other innocent folks.

I visited the swine barn with my son and spent half an hour giving the pigs back scratches. It was great! No flu here. People need to lighten up a little in my book.

swschrad, you don't need to touch the pigs to get the flu. You just need to be in the area.

Since swine flu is transmitted through the air washing hands doesn't stop the transmission. Pigs should not have been allowed at the fair, very poor decision making.

AHHHHH! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! In reality, the swine flu is not new at all. It's been around for decades. It's a VERY benign flu in comparison to the normal seasonal flu. It is not a worry at all. Should we wash our hands? Yes. I'm sure my wife and I got it during the scare, as we exhibited all the symptoms, but it was minor, as it is for 99% of all people. In fact, in the middle of the hysteria, 37% of people tested thought they never got it but already had antibodies for it. That means they got it and beat it without ever getting noticeably sick.

They should have listened to Michael Osterholm.
