The 2014 game at Target Field comes just in time to stave off waning ticket sales and growing fan apathy.

Sid, I don't care if Bozo Bud is a close personal friend. What he did in '96 was inexcusable. No World Series. Then he screws up the All-Star game. Yeh, he's done wonders for the game of baseball. Get him out and someone in who knows the game and has the integrity of the game in mind.

Do the Twins really think their season ticket holders are going to continue to pay good money to watch a miserable team play AA ball just so they can stand a razor thin chance to pay a ridiculous sum of money to attend an exhibition game and two other meaningless events? Do they really have that low an opinion of our collective intellects?

LOL, after paying $12 million in revenue sharing they won't make much profit. How much is "not much"? 20 million? 30 million? Guess what its still a profit on a terrible team! Plus guess what happens if revenues continue to go down... They will receive revenue sharing instead of paying it. Don't play the small market no money trump card. The Twins can spend plenty on free agents. Classic case of billionaires pretending to be poor. If profits are so bad why didn't they sell the team YEARS ago?

"in addition to the Twin Cities benefiting to the tune of $75 million to $100 million in all types of business during the activities surrounding the game,..." ------------ So this is like a bonus check for the Pohlad's. They should re-invest at least $50 million of this 1-time windfall into their team (business). It is nothing but GREED if they pocket this money instead of using it to improve the roster.

Sid, What's the next column--that the fans owe it to the Twins to support the team regardless of the on-field product, that, but for injuries and bad luck, the Twins would have made the playoffs this year, that money does not buy championships, that the Minneapolis City Council needs to reinvest in Target Field to make up for saddling the Twins with a free stadium next to the incinerator and off the riverfront, or that we are all so lucky to have the community-minded Pohlads in MInnesota? Whichever it is, I'm sure it will be filled with insight rather than mindless pandering.

I was done when I heard Ryan utter the words, "Don't have any plans to go after a big time free agent pitcher". Just freakin amazing. Wow.

I think the headline should read "Pohlads get All-Star financial boost". They're going to get better than deserved ticket renewals from people for the chance at All-Star tickets for the next 2 years & unfortunately they'll not spend a dime on the team. It's all falling in place for the tightwad family!!!!!! Please spend the money or sell to someone that will invest in the team, that's all we ask.

that terry ryan is pretty smart by telling everybody he's not going after a big time free agent pitcher that way when he does he can negotiate from a position of strength.............or maybe he can't.

so essentially, the Twins marketing strategy is now that of the T-Wolves from roughly 2005-2010: "Come see all the good players from other teams"

There will be alot of revenue coming in from the All Star Game, where will this revenue go?? I think we all know the answer to that question. How many Twins will be playing in that game? I think we know that one also, sad to say.
