Premise of this "review" seems lazy, too general and misinformed. The writer's assumption about how art-folk think about watercolor is not at-all developed. While Mary makes a random mention of Cezanne, she makes no reference to Cezanne's large body of watercolors and that work as smart and raw as Cezanne's does not have a place in this kind of a juried exhibit. If this writer had a working knowledge of technique, she might have been less dazzled by what she finds so alluring and magical. Watercolor does need defense, the Strib needs a real art critic.
