Ellison demonstrates just how extreme the Left has become. But he fits perfectly into the Left's mould. Surely the Left can find someone who is a little more in the middle than he is. The district deserves much better.

We should never let them denigrate the government that way,"-- thought police, Keith? On a weekly basis there are stories of waste, fraud, and abuse by government programs and were not allowed to denigrate our government? What might government do for you to grant us permission to be critical of it?

Fatima Franzen of Shakopee... Sorry, but neither Fields or Ellison are going to be your representative, the 5th Congressional district doesn't cover Shakopee.

While a raucous crowd of (Fields) supporters (i.e. Elison detractors) cheered, booed and heckled, the candidates staked out polar-opposite positions on almost every issue, from jobs to health care to the deficit to which of them is doing more to help the struggling residents of north Minneapolis. *** I live in Mpls and have previously lived on the north side of the city. I also listened to the debate on MPR and was surprised to hear Keith giving a good account of himself despite the know-nothing jeers of his hecklers. Keith spoke clearly but passionately about what it means to be a northside resident.(If you ever listened to British Parliament in session the opposition party back benchers sounded far more sapient than these "fairgoers.") Occasionally Fields sounded plausible but whenever cornered he resorted to stock GOP cliches in his rebuttals to Keith. Since candidate Romney does the same I guess that means Fields is in good company.
